Add television executive producer Chuck Lorre to the group of entertainment people jokingly giving a look at running for Congress in west Los Angeles.  

The seat’s incumbent, Democratic Rep. Henry A. Waxman, announced his retirement in late January. The district represents Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Malibu. As a result, California’s 33rd is home to many movie stars and Hollywood players.  

Lorre announced on Thursday that he is “mulling the congressional seat.” The comments came in the form of a “vanity card” he writes at the end of each of his television program episodes. This one flashed up on Thursday after an episode of “The Big Bang Theory”:

I’m also mulling the congressional seat recently opened by the retirement of Henry Waxman. Again, I think my complete lack of experience is a selling point. I’m also a big fan of incompetent government, as the overly organized ones tend to put people like me on trains to Poland. For this elective office I’m thinking I need a campaign slogan that alienates no one. Something along the lines of, “Send me to Congress and watch what happens!”

Besides “The Big Bang Theory,” he is the show-runner for “Two and a Half Men.” Back in the 1990s, he was the executive producer of “Dharma & Greg” and “Cybill.”  

CQ Roll Call has been closely tracking — and at times instigating — Hollywood’s interest in the seat. CQ Roll Call broke the news that fitness guru Richard Simmons has zero interest in the seat , but that “Falcon Crest” star Lorenzo Lamas would give it a look .

But mostly, the stars we reached out to ignored our request for comment. Kirstie Alley , LeVar Burton , Courteney Cox , Geena Davis , Danny DeVito , Carrie Fisher , Brandi Glanville , Kathy Griffin , Rob Lowe , Ryan O’Neal  and Betty White — we’re looking at you.  

Lorre made the tabloids three years ago during the acrimonious breakup of his professional relationship with Charlie Sheen, then the outgoing star of “Two and a Half Men.” The actor expressed to TMZ a desire to fight Lorre “in an octagon” and proceeded to call Lorre a number of names that are prohibited by the CQ Roll Call Stylebook.  

If Lorre follows through with a run, he might actually be able to hit up Sheen for a campaign donation. In November, Sheen sought to “make amends ” with Lorre over Twitter.
