House Lawmakers Open Hearts — and Wallets — for DCCC

Before skating out of town for recess — and, presumably, out of the path of the snow that was aboutto ice over D.C. — House Democrats gathered at Acqua Al 2 on Feb. 12 for some holiday mixing (and fundraising).

An HOH tipster said Reps. Debbie Dingell of Michigan and Lois Frankel of Florida organized a Sadie Hawkins-style event to drum up dues for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Male members had to pony up $10,000 in order to escort a lady lawmaker to a pre-Valentine’s Day shindig held at the Eastern Market standby — an evening that was, we’re told, capped off by a late-night karaoke jam.

Our spies indicated ladies man John B. Larson of Connecticut brought two “dates” to the event, and noted that he even sprung for a pair of corsages.

House Minority Whip Steny H. Hoyer reportedly sweetened the deal by presenting his “date” with a box of chocolates.
