Take Five: Rep. Ed Perlmutter
It’s time again for Take Five, when HOH talks with a member of Congress about topics relatively unrelated to legislative work.
This week, Rep. Ed Perlmutter, D-Colo., boasts about the weather in his home state, talks about working out to country rock and the upcoming Congressional Women’s Softball Game. Q: Where is your favorite vacation spot? A: Several, but Southern California — San Diego, Palm Desert, we like to go there. … Locally, it’s the mountains, and for warm, Southern California.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Washington, D.C.? A: I have my favorite place, which I and some of my cronies go to — it’s Tunnicliff’s over in Eastern Market. But my favorite thing to do is baseball practice, and I’m a coach of the women’s team. That is so much fun, and you guys [CQ Roll Call] are sponsors of both of those things. They’re a great time to meet other members of Congress, it’s just fun, we’re out doing something different than legislating, you know, we’re playing baseball. We do that over in the Gallaudet, that’s where the Democrats practice. So that’s Democrats versus Republicans. And then the softball is the women members of Congress, the Senate plus the House, playing you guys in the media.
Q: Do you have a favorite band or type of music? A: Country rock. I have Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne on Pandora right now, which is what I listen to when I go to the gym.
Q: Do you have a bucket list? If so, what is one of the things on it? A: Well I don’t really have a bucket list, but I do have things I want to do. And one of those things that I wanted to do forever is join the United States Supreme Court Bar, and I’m actually going to get sworn in to the Bar of the Supreme Court on, I think it’s the 25th of this month, in a couple of weeks so I’m going to fulfill that bucket-list item.
Q: Is there anything you wish HOH had asked you about? A: I don’t think so, those are fun questions. Like I said, ’tis a privilege to live in Colorado … other than it’s just a fantastic place to live, it is the fittest state in the nation, because everybody is outdoors all the time.
