Both parties’ House campaign committees raised more than $5 million in February, the two organizations announced Friday.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s nearly $5.2 million haul brought its cash-on-hand total to nearly $6.4 million by the end of the month. It also paid down its debt to $6.5 million.

The National Republican Congressional Committee raised just more than $5 million in February and reported $6.3 million in cash on hand as of Feb. 28. The NRCC now has $7 million in debt, down slightly from the $7.8 million it started the year with.

Democrats are looking to make inroads on the GOP’s majority. Republicans netted 13 seats in 2014, bringing the party to a historic House majority.

Democrats must net 30 seats for House control, a challenging task with the current congressional map, which offers limited opportunities.
