The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee raised slightly more than its Republican counterpart in February, bringing in $4.3 million, according to figures the committee reported Friday.

The DSCC’s haul is more than the $3.8 million the National Republican Senatorial Committee raised that month.

It leaves the DSCC with $5.5 million in cash on hand. That’s more than the $4.3 million the NRSC reported.

But the DSCC is carrying more operational debt, reporting $15 million, almost double the $8 million in debt the NRSC is carrying.

Republicans are defending their newfound Senate majority this cycle. A number of the 24 Senate seats the GOP must defend are in states Democrats historically carry in presidential cycles.

Democrats must net five seats to ensure Senate control.
