Ten members of Congress will trade their suits for soccer jerseys next week to compete in the third annual Capital Soccer Classic.  

The game is scheduled for Tuesday at RFK Stadium in the District of Columbia. Though it is free to attend the game, donations from the event’s sponsors will benefit the U.S. Soccer Foundation, which encourages the growth of soccer in the United States, particularly in underprivileged communities. Republicans will face off with Democrats in the main event of the night, the congressional match at 6:30 p.m., with the GOP lawmakers looking to score their first victory. Democrats have won the first two matches, though Republicans battled back in the 2014 match to nearly take the title.  

The Democratic squad will consist of House members Suzanne Bonamici of Oregon, Kathy Castor of Florida, Anne McLane Kuster of New Hampshire and Eric Swalwell of California.  

Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina will join the GOP team on Tuesday, along with Reps. Mike Coffman of Colorado, Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, Dave Reichert of Washington, Erik Paulsen of Minnesota and Todd Young of Indiana.  

Four of the game’s participants, Castor, Swalwell, Reichert and Young, are all co-chairmen of the Congressional Soccer Caucus.  

Before the congressional match, staff from eight embassies, including aides from the U.S. State Department, will face off in a round robin tournament. And after the congressional match, at around 7:30 p.m., Capitol Hill staffers will join in on the fun and participate in the round robin.
