The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee raised nearly $5.3 million in March, slightly edging its Republican counterpart.

The DSCC ended the month with $7.1 million in cash on hand. It had $13.7 million in operational debt, paid down from $15 million at the end of February.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee raised $4.9 million last month, pushing it to a total of $10.9 million in the first quarter of the cycle, with $6 million left in debt. The DSCC brought in $14 million in the first three months of the year.

Democrats must net five seats to ensure Senate control. The party will be largely on offense, as it is defending just 10 of the 34 seats up in the 2016 cycle.
