The National Republican Senatorial Committee announced Monday it raised $4.9 million in March and ended the month with $5.3 million on hand.

The NRSC also continues to pay down its debt from the previous cycle, which now stands at $6 million.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has yet to release its March numbers, which are due to the Federal Election Commission on Monday.

The GOP must protect 24 seats, including more than a handful in states President Barack Obama carried twice. Democrats need a net gain of five seats to ensure the majority.
