After securing another year of bragging rights by coming out on top in the 54th Annual Roll Call Congressional Baseball Game , Rep. Dan Kildee now faces a victory celebration decidedly not for the faint of heart.

Per the friendly wager he made on the game with Rep. John Moolenaar, R-Mich., the Michigan Democrat is owed one of the pound-plus BLTs that helped put Tony’s 1-75 Restaurant on the map.

“I think this might have to be a staff project,” the two-term lawmaker told HOH of the daunting delicacy. “There’s no way I can eat a pound of bacon, even in a month.” Having tangled with the gut-busting sandwich in the past — “I think I got about a quarter of the way through it,” he estimated — Kildee believes this time around, an all-hands-on-deck approach would be the most prudent plan of attack.

“I may have to have Mr. Moolenaar help me eat it, actually,” he quipped.

His GOP colleague has some regional sampling of his own to attend to, given that Kildee remains dead set on introducing the freshman to a proper Angelo’s Coney Island.

“He’s gotta have a Flint Coney … [with] just the chili, the onions and mustard on a Koegel Viennas in a soft bun,” Kildee stated.

And even though tradition dictates gobbling the fabled dogs down two at a time, Kildee is willing to cut his delegation mate some slack.

“I will make sure he has at least one,” Kildee said.
