In addition to great music, food and fun  from Peru planned for the 2015 Smithsonian Folklife Festival, there will be alpacas.

On Friday, June 26, there will be a presentation by the weavers from the Center of Traditional Textiles . Based in Cuzco, Peru, members of the cooperative will demonstrate traditional weaving techniques. As a part of the ceremony, the alpacas will be decorated. They will also be at the festival the following Friday as well.

Flame Pool Alpacas (“Where Suris Rule” according to their website) from Columbia, Md., will be providing the world’s cutest pre-sweaters. Owner Kathy Graziani made clear that the alpacas will not be visiting with the crowd. Still, there will still be the spectacle of a dressed-up alpaca on the National Mall.
