Updated 4:32 p.m. |  The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised $700,000 more than the National Republican Congressional Committee in May, according to figures provided to CQ Roll Call.

The DCCC brought in $4.4 million last month, while its Republican counterpart raised $3.7 million over the same period.

Despite outpacing House Republicans in fundraising, the NRCC leads the DCCC in cash on hand. The DCCC has $10.1 million in the bank, while the NRCC has $10.7 million in its war chest.

Both the DCCC and the NRCC carry no debt.

Earlier Friday, the National Republican Senatorial Committee reported it had raised more than $4.5 million in May and had paid down some of its debt. The NRSC ended the month with $6.3 million in cash on hand.

House Republicans are defending a historic 30-seat majority in 2016.
