IT CEO: Likely ‘Significant Breaches’ in Other Government Agencies

An emerging rabbit hole following an Office of Personnel Management data breach announced earlier this month continued to grow Tuesday. As investigators grapple with an OPM breach announced earlier this month affecting millions of federal employees, witnesses at a Senate Appropriations Subcommittee hearing Tuesday affirmed investigators would likely find “significant problems” relating to network security at other federal agencies. “Given the situation we find ourselves in across most federal agencies, I would expect you to find significant breaches,” Resilient Network Systems CEO Richard Spires said.
