Lawmakers looking for a little pick-me-up (or, possibly, some of the most depressing news ever) need look no further than the completely inane “Sexy Congress” selection tool.  

The nascent time suck functions on a basic premise: Pick the pol(s) you find most attractive.  

There’s no bracket to configure. No swiping (right or left) to maneuver. Just a simple point and click on whoever happens to get you hot under the collar at this exact moment in time. In fact, the only modifier appears to be whether one wishes to objectify female politicians in isolation, dudes-only or a grab bag of both sexes.  

Each of the featured lawmakers is branded with a generic headshot — the picture of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., appears to have been lifted from Wikipedia while the image of Rep. Barbara Comstock, R-Va., mirrors her Twitter profile — and then ranked from one to 533.  

There’s no discernible methodology or visible vote counter, just the head-to-head pairings that automatically flip as soon as one contender is tapped over the other.  

Upon closer examination, it soon became clear the ladies are commanding the most attention in this puerile parlor game. Certain rankings flip-flopped while HOH poked around the fledgling project (which appears to have come online on July 17), save for one: Gillibrand remained firmly in the lead.  

The remainder of the top 25 was leaning Democratic (15 ladies from the left side of the spectrum), with only a single male — Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb. — breaking through the glass ceiling of Internet desirability. Reps. Brett Guthrie, R-Ky., and Nita M. Lowey, D-N.Y., were bringing up the rear for each gender, registering at 511 and 533, respectively.
