Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn said Tuesday a hearing earlier in the day on “sanctuary cities” would likely be the first part of a process that will lead to legislation for cities with laws and policies that provide safe-havens for illegal immigrants. “I expect there will be legislation that will be offered, hearings on that and my hope is we’ll be in a position to vote a bill out of the Judiciary Committee and present it to the majority leader for his consideration in due course,” Cornyn said. The House is set to vote on legislation dealing with “sanctuary cities” this week.
