Pelosi: US Credit ‘Should Not Be Negotiable’

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi reiterated the need for a “clean” debt ceiling hike at her weekly news conference Thursday following an announcement earlier in the day that the Treasury Department would postpone its two-year Treasury Note auction later this month due to concerns over the looming debt limit.“The action that they announced this morning is very consequential. … 2011 when [Republicans] played with [the debt limit], just the mere discussion of it and the length of time that that discussion went on, brought down our credit rating,” Pelosi said. “… The full faith and credit of the United States not only should not be questioned, it should not be negotiable.”
