Republican Chokes Up on Oregon Standoff

Rep. Greg Walden spoke emotionally on the House floor Tuesday on the armed protests in Oregon, voicing that while he does not condone the protesters’ militant approach, he understands their perspective and anger. “They’re good people. Their sons and daughters, by a higher proportion, fight in our wars. And die. I’ve been to their funerals,” Walden said, holding back tears. “So to my friends across eastern Oregon, I will always fight for you.”
