Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign is poaching a former Mitt Romney staffer from the Senate.

Kristine Michalson, who has worked as press secretary for Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., and the Joint Economic Committee, will be the director of press advance for the Rubio campaign, she confirmed to Roll Call.

It’s the second time the Florida Republican has tapped a senior Senate press aide with campaign experience in recent weeks, with Caitlin Conant departing Sen. Rob Portman’s shop, where she was communications director.

The addition comes as Rubio has been staffing up for the stretch ahead of the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary.

The move is a natural one for Michalson, who worked press advance on the 2012 campaign of Romney, the former Massachusetts governor. Among her earlier jobs was a stint with Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., where she started in 2008 and was featured in Roll Call’s Hill Climbers column.
