Alicia Keys Sends Speaker Ryan a Valentine
Musician Alicia Keys is making a plea to Speaker Paul D. Ryan, R-Wis., in hopes he will schedule a vote on criminal justice policy.
Keys posted a video “Justice Reform Now ” to YouTube on Thursday, opening with a flirtatious, “Can I call you Paul?” She said she saw a picture of the speaker working out and figured he was “cool.”
“Show me how cool you are,” she said. “In fact you can even maybe be my Valentine if you help me spread some love.” She asks Ryan to call a vote. “Can you do that, Paul? I know you can,” she said.
In fact, Ryan said Thursday that the House would hold votes on the criminal justice legislation that the Judiciary Committee has passed. But, the speaker didn’t say when.
In her video, Keys holds up a Valentine’s Day card and asked viewers to write one, too, on her website. “You’re welcome in advance for the thousands of love notes that are coming your way.”
“I think you’re so special, and keep me posted about all our progress and how we can work together,” she said, closing the video with a kiss.
