House Republican Conference Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers says the GOP has shifted the political waters in Washington since retaking the House and the Senate, but in an exclusive interview with Roll Call Editor-in-Chief Melinda Henneberger, says Paul D. Ryan’s ascent to the speakership signifies a “new start” for Republicans. “Speaker Ryan has challenged us that we need to be putting forward the specific policy solutions,” McMorris Rodgers said. “We’ve long talked about the future of health care, post the Affordable Care Act, and yet we haven’t put forward that specific legislation.”
