Opening statements against indicted Philadelphia congressman start Monday

The federal corruption trial against Pennsylvania Rep. Chaka Fattah is set to begin Monday with opening statements, three weeks after he lost his re-election bid for his Philadelphia-area seat in a Democratic primary, Reuters reported .  

The 11-term House member was indicted on 29 corruption charges
including participating in a racketeering conspiracy, bribery and wire fraud. He lost his 2nd District primary in April to state Rep. Dwight Evans
.  

Fattah is accused of misappropriating hundreds of thousands of dollars of federal, charitable and campaign funds.
