Part of the rise of Donald Trump has been attributed to his tapping into the anxieties of working class voters, but a new poll shows Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton leading among middle class voters in Rust Belt states.

Forty-six percent of those surveyed in the Bloomberg poll  said they would vote for Clinton while only 39 percent would vote for Trump, the presumptive GOP Republican nominee .

The poll also showed that 43 percent of voters felt Clinton would fight harder for the middle class compared to 29 percent of those who said Trump would.

The poll, conducted online by Purple Strategies, interviewed 803 likely voters who earn between $30,000 to $75,000 in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. It had a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

The poll comes on the heels of the AFL-CIO launching an anti-Trump ad campaign  directed at working-class voters.
