Donald Trump has won the support of enough delegates to claim the Republican presidential nomination outright, according to an unofficial count  reported by the Associated Press.

Trump quietly passed the threshold after some of the party’s unbound delegates told the news organization they would support the billionaire businessman at the Cleveland convention in July.

That gave Trump one more than the 1,237 delegates needed to win the party’s nomination, according to AP’s count.

Trump was already the last Republican in the primary race after Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Ohio Gov. John Kasich dropped out .

There were concerns earlier in the primary fight that no one would claim enough delegates to win the nomination, throwing the outcome of the contest to the convention .
