Supporters of Donald Trump in North Carolina endorsed a Republican congressional candidate Monday, throwing their backing behind North Carolina Rep. Robert Pittenger.

Pittenger was initially a supporter of Sen. Marco Rubio’s candidacy. However, Trump won the North Carolina Republican primary in March, and the presumptive GOP nominee remains popular in the state.

Trump endorsed Rep. Renee Ellmers over the weekend and recorded a robocall for her as she faces a tough Republican primary . Pittenger’s endorsement comes from Trump’s local supporters, not the candidate himself.

Pittenger, a two-term House member representing the Charlotte-area 9th District, is facing a primary challenge from local pastor Mark Harris.

Pittenger, apparently unclear on who delivered the endorsement, thanked Trump for his support, using his campaign slogan as a hashtag on Twitter.
