Democrats announced Monday that Sen. Elizabeth Warren will be the keynote speaker on the opening night of their convention on Monday and will lay out the case against Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Joining Warren on the Monday night bill are former Democratic primary contender Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Cory Booker and first lady Michelle Obama.

Warren was believed to have been a finalist as Clinton’s running mate before the former secretary of state tapped Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine on Friday. But Warren appears to be behind the choice and ready to continue her role as a top surrogate for the Clinton campaign.

The Massachusetts Democrat officially endorsed Clinton in June  in an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” .

“I am ready to get in this fight and work my heart out for Hillary Clinton to become the next president of the United States and to make sure that Donald Trump never gets any place close to the White House,” she said .
