An outside group with ties to Democrats is spending $1.3 million in Pennsylvania in an ad against the state’s Republican Sen. Patrick J. Toomey the week the Democratic National Convention hits Philadelphia.

Majority Forward, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit and a partner organization of the pro-Democratic Senate Majority PAC, is behind the buy.

The ad largely focuses on abortion rights, saying that Toomey voted seven times to defund Planned Parenthood and supported shutting down the government to cut funding for the organization.

It also says the Pennsylvania senator supports overturning Roe v. Wade, which could allow states to outlaw abortion.

Toomey is facing a competitive challenge from Democratic nominee Katie McGinty. The Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report /Roll Call rates the race as Tilts Republican .
