Sanders In Dramatic Finish to Clinton Nomination
In show of unity, vanquished rival leads convention in approving Clinton by acclimation
In a dramatic show of unity, Bernie Sanders ended the roll call vote on Tuesday to give Hillary Clinton’s history making presidential nomination a rousing finish.
With the delegate vote count already in the bag for the former secretary of state, her main rival, Sanders, stood to ask the chair of the proceedings to suspend the rules and proclaim Clinton the Democratic nominee by acclimation.
The crowd responded with thunderous approval, sending Clinton to the general election fight against Donald Trump and Sanders back to the U.S. Senate a more powerful and popular political figure.
