The controversial political consul Roger Stone might have inadvertently linked the Donald Trump campaign with the Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

Stone was asked at an event in front of the the Southwest Broward Republican Organization whether there would be an “October surprise” from Wikileaks that could damage Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

“Well, it could be any number of things. I actually have communicated with Assange,” Stone said. “I believe the next tranche of his documents pertain to the Clinton Foundation but there’s no telling what the October surprise may be.”

Stone has been a longtime adviser and surrogate for Trump but has no official role in the campaign.

Wikileaks released thousands of emails from the Democratic National Committee right before the Democrats held their convention in Philadelphia at the end of July.

This caused an uproar from supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders and others who thought the DNC was tilting the scales in favor of Clinton’s candidacy.

Former DNC Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and CEO Amy Dacey resigned as a result.

Assange has yet to respond to Stone’s statement that they are in contact.
