Cornyn Calls On The Justice Department To Investigate The Clinton Foundation
Sen. John Cornyn formally asked the Justice Department to explain why it did not accept the recommendation of the FBI to investigate the Clinton Foundation.
The letter Cornyn sent to Attorney General Loretta Lynch is in response to a CNN report that said three FBI field offices recommended that an investigation should be launched into a foreign donor of the Clinton Foundation. The FBI was alerted by a bank that there was suspicious activity on the donors account, according to the report.
The Texas Republican wants to know why the Justice Department did not accept the FBI’s recommendation in this case but they did accept FBI director James Comey’s recommendation that no charges be filed against Hillary Clinton for improperly handling classified information.

“The practice is not clear, but the outcome in both cases favors Secretary Clinton,” Cornyn said in the letter. “This contrast does little to instill faith in the Department.”
Cornyn has some specific questions he wants the Justice Department to answer: Is the CNN report true, and if it is, why did the they not investigate?

He also asked what Justice Department employees were involved in the decision to not investigate and if the attorney general had any discussions with Bill Clinton when they had an impromptu meeting on an Arizona tarmac.
