Word on the Hill: Pet Night
Bowling for sick kids and honoring federal workers

Staffers and members have yet another opportunity to see cute animals at work.
The annual Pet Night on Capitol Hill is at 5:30 p.m. in the Cannon Caucus Room and features therapy animals for petting and playing.
The event, open to staffers via an RSVP, is hosted by the Human Animal Bond Research Initiative Foundation and the Pet Leadership Council, two organizations that hope to teach attendees the importance of pet ownership.
D.C. celebs bowl for kids
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Reps. Mia Love, R-Utah, Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., and Grace Napolitano, D-Calif., are showing off their bowling skills to raise funds for Hope for Henry, a group that helps improve the way hospitals care for ill children.
At Pinstripes in Georgetown, at 7:30 p.m., Roll Call alum and CNN host Jake Tapper and 94.7 Fresh FM’s Tommy McFly will host the event, featuring journalists, retiring Redskins players and the Georgetown Cupcake co-founders, among others.
Doug Stamper hosts a gala
Michael Kelly (“House of Cards”) and Stephanie Ruhle (NBC) host the 15th annual Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals gala, also known as the Sammies. At 7 p.m. at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, the Sammies will honor federal workers who are improving the lives of Americans. White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and NASA Administrator Charles Bolden are slated to attend.
Eisenhower family supports memorial design
Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., announced the support from the Eisenhower family of design plans so construction of the late president’s D.C. memorial can move forward, according to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission on Tuesday.
