Get out the vote, wrecking ball-style.
Singer Miley Cyrus is campaigning for Hillary Clinton and Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., at George Mason University on Saturday.
Cyrus is “an advocate for LGBTQ rights, gender equality and environmental issues,” according to the Clinton campaign. She will be knocking on doors to speak to students about the stakes in this election for millennial voters.
Staffer shuffle
Sean Callahan is Sen. Mazie K. Hirono’s, D-Hawaii, new deputy chief of staff. He previously was deputy chief of staff for the late Rep. Mark Takai, D-Hawaii.
Monique Waters, Sen. Cory Booker’s, D-N.J., press secretary, is leaving to be senior director of corporate communications at the education technology digital learning startup, EverFi.
Inauguration flyover
That helicopter you might have seen flying over the Capitol between 1 and 2 p.m. on Thursday was in support of the 2017 Presidential Inauguration and hovered over various spots on the grounds.

Gabby Giffords honored by female Democrats
The former Arizona congresswoman and shooting survivor Gabrielle Giffords received the Democratic Woman of the Year Award from the Woman’s National Democratic Clubat a reception Thursday evening. Giffords is the founder of the gun control advocacy group Americans for Responsible Solutions. Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Md., and Lori Haas, Virginia state director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, presented her with the award.
