Good Signs for Clinton in Early Voting Battlegrounds
Democrat shows strength in states Donald Trump must win
Early voting in crucial battleground states point to an advantage for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Clinton shows strength in states Republican rival Donald Trump must win to have a shot: Florida and North Carolina, along with battleground states Nevada, Colorado and Arizona, The Associated Press reported.
In Florida, where in-person voting began Monday, Republicans and Democrats are tied at 41 percent in ballots submitted so far.
“If current early vote trends hold, it’s a real possibility that Clinton can sweep a majority of swing states including Florida,” Scott Tranter, co-founder of the Republican data analytics firm Optimus, told the AP.
Early in-person voting in North Carolina began last week and after trailing in mail-in ballots, Democrats have surged ahead in ballots submitted, 46 percent to 29 percent.
Democrats also lead in returned ballots in Nevada, 46 percent to 35 percent, and in Colorado, 40 percent to 34 percent. Democrats are nearly tied with Republicans in Arizona, 37 percent to 38 percent.
Early voting is underway in 37 states and more than 12.5 million votes have already been cast, the AP reported. More than 46 million people are expected to vote before Nov. 8.
