Conyers’ Son Found Safe in Houston
Carl Conyers had been reported missing since Tuesday
The youngest son of Michigan Rep. John Conyers Jr. was found safe early Friday after going missing earlier this week.
Carl Conyers, 21, a student at the University of Houston, was found around 2:20 a.m. and was interviewed at a police station in Houston before being released to his family, Houston’s ABC affiliate KTRK reported.
Shadawn Reddick-Smith, a spokeswoman for Conyers, said, “Rep. Conyers has been in touch with his family and is happy his son is safe and uninjured.”
The younger Conyers had not been seen since Tuesday and had stopped responding to text messages from his girlfriend on Wednesday morning and missed a scheduled meeting with her.
Carl Conyers had shaved his beard when he was found, KTRK reported.
Police didn’t release many details, but a sergeant told the TV station that Conyers had liked a tweet sometime while he was missing and that led police to his location.
The older Conyers, a Democrat from Michigan, is the longest-serving incumbent member of the House.
