Trump Considering Former Rep. Harold Ford Jr. for Cabinet

Former Democratic Rep. Harold Ford Jr. is being considered for a position in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration, according to reports.

Ford, who supported Trump’s opponent Hillary Clinton, is being considered for Transportation secretary, Politico reported.

Ford served five terms in Congress before running unsuccessfully for the Senate in 2006. He now serves as a managing director for Morgan Stanley.

Rep. Steve Cohen, who occupies the seat Ford gave up, told the Memphis Commercial Appeal that Ford’s selection would be great for the district.

“It would do nothing but help get road dollars for Memphis as a distribution city,” he said.

Ford is a major donor to Democratic candidates. Since joining Morgan Stanley, he has given to Sens. Cory Booker, Mark Warner and Michael Bennet as well as former Sens. Kay Hagan and Bob Kerrey, according to Federal Election Commission records.
