Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren will seek a second term in 2018. Her announcement came in an email to supporters Friday morning, The Boston Globe reported. 

“The people of Massachusetts didn’t send me to Washington to roll over and play dead while Donald Trump and his team of billionaires, bigots, and Wall Street bankers crush the working people of our commonwealth and this country,” Warren wrote. “This is no time to quit.”

The progressive senator has been mentioned as a possible presidential candidate. She’d still be able to run in 2020 after winning a second term in 2018. 

Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling said last October he was ready to run against Warren — pending his wife’s approval. In a Suffolk University/Boston Globe poll conducted that month, Warren led Schilling, 58 percent to 24 percent, in a hypothetical matchup.

Warren won her first term in 2012, unseating GOP Sen. Scott Brown, 54 percent to 46 percent.
