Arnold Schwarzenegger responded to President-elect Donald Trump’s criticisms of NBC’s rebooted “Celebrity Apprentice” TV ratings by reminding him that he’ll soon be the president.

Trump gloated on Twitter early Friday about the fact that the former California governor’s new edition of the show, which aired Thursday night, got “swamped” and called himself “a ratings machine.”

He also criticized Schwarzenegger for supporting Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Hillary Clinton.

Wow, the ratings are in and Arnold Schwarzenegger got “swamped” (or destroyed) by comparison to the ratings machine, DJT. So much for….

Schwarzenegger, who served as the Republican governor of California from 2003 to 2011, responded by tweeting, “I hope you’ll work for ALL of the American people as aggressively as you worked for your ratings.”

He also reposted a video that he recorded the day after last November’s election. In it, he quotes President Abraham Lincoln’s first inaugural address, which Schwarzenegger said inspired him when he was governor.

“I am sure you want to hear me read Lincoln’s speeches in my Austrian accent,” he joked. And then he did.

The quote is from the end of Lincoln’s address and is the source of the oft-quoted line about “the better angels of our nature.”

We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.

Schwarzenegger said in the video that once the campaign is over, people should remember they are neighbors and friends but most importantly, Americans before taking a spin on Trump’s campaign slogan.

“We have a lot of work to do to keep America great,” he said. “So let’s do it and let’s do it together.”
