Glenn to Be Buried at Arlington

Ceremony begins at 9:40 a.m.

John Glenn, former senator, presidential candidate and astronaut, will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in a ceremony on Thursday.

He died on Dec. 8 at 95.

A private service will take place first at 9 a.m. for family, fellow astronauts, dignitaries and other guests at the Old Post Chapel on the Arlington grounds, the Associated Press reported.

The Marine Corps procession will begin at 9:40 a.m. to the graveside with a caisson and flyover for the 1960s Mercury Seven astronaut. At the graveside a service and taps will follow.

The event will be live streamed and is supposed to run until 10:25 a.m., according to the AP.

Since December, Glenn has laid in repose in the Ohio Statehouse.

During a public service on Dec. 17 at Ohio State University’s Mershon Auditorium, former President Bill Clinton and former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr spoke.
