Seven people at a pro-marijuana legalization event outside the Dirksen Office Building were arrested on Thursday, three on possession with intent to distribute and four with possession. The event participants were giving out free joints to congressional staffers and believed they were on D.C. land where possession of marijuana is legal. Roll Call’s Heard on the Hill reporter Alex Gangitano was on the scene. Correction: The bill number referenced in this video that’s sponsored by Reps. Garrett and Gabbard is incorrect; the correct bill number is HR 1227.
