Nancy Pelosi Misses George W. Bush
House minority leader says she’d work with Republicans on health care if repeal is off the table

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that she missed former President George W. Bush.
In an interview with KLRU-TV, Pelosi compared the current predecessor to the last Republican in the White House.
“Did we ever think we would see the day when we would say, ‘Please bring back George W. Bush?’” the Texas Tribune reported. “We really did work together.”
Pelosi was sworn in as the first woman speaker of the House in 2007, two years before Bush’s presidency ended.
In 2007, during her first State of the Union behind the presidential podium, Bush said, “And tonight, I have the high privilege and distinct honor of my own, as the first president to begin the State of the Union message with these words: “Madam Speaker.”
Pelosi also responded to news that Republicans would make another attempt to work on health care, saying Democrats would work with Republicans — with conditions.
“The fact is, if we can find a path where we can work together for the good of the American people, we have a responsibility to do that — as long as they take repeal off the table,” she said.
Pelosi said Democrats are also considering investing in Texas races, particularly against Republican Rep. Pete Olson, who represents a diversifying district in the Houston suburbs.
According to an analysis by liberal website the Daily Kos, the districts of Republican Reps. Will Hurd, Pete Sessions and John Culberson all broke for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
