Democratic Colorado Rep. Jared Polis said he is considering a run for governor, in an interview with Coloradopolitics.com 

“I’m going to be deciding in the next month or two whether or not to launch a statewide race for governor,” Polis said in an interview with the site that ran Monday morning. 

The governorship in Colorado is open in 2018 since the current Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper is term-limited. 

Polis is a five-term congressman, having first been elected in 2008. Before Congress, he served on the Colorado Board of Education from 2001-2007 and was also its chairman. His seat is solidly Democratic for the 2018 cycle, according to Inside Elections with Nathan L. Gonzales/Roll Call race ratings.

Fellow Democratic Rep. Ed Perlmutter already announced his run for governor this month. Former state Sen. Mike Johnston and former state treasurer Cary Kennedy are also already in the Democratic primary, according to Coloradopolitics.com.
