Simone Biles Tries to Get Shelley Moore Capito to Dance on TV

Olympic gymnast Simone Biles tried to put some pressure Thursday on Sen. Shelley Moore Capito to dance on TV.
But Biles and her ‘Dancing with the Stars’ partner Sasha Farber couldn’t quite get through to the West Virginia Republican.
“The last time ‘Dancing with the Stars’ had political figures, it didn’t turn out too well,” Capito said during a meeting in her office Thursday.
“I’d be flat on my can,” she said.

Biles and Farber continued to insist. Last season, former Texas governor and current Energy Secretary Rick Perry participated in the reality competition. He didn’t last long. His fellow Texan, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, competed on the show in 2009 and was also voted off early.

Capito had her three year old grandson, Charlie, with her Thursday for the annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.
Charlie told Biles that he wants to be a senator when he grows up and was later heard asking his father, Charles, if he could watch gymnastics on his grandmother’s computer during the meeting.
But, Charlie really had his sights set on riding the subway between the Russell Senate Office Building and the Capitol. He asked twice during the meeting when they could go.

At last year’s Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, Capito brought Charlie’s big sister, Celia.

Capito told Biles she was “such an inspiration to young people.”
The senator then filmed a segment for ‘Dancing with the Stars’ with Biles and Farber, telling people to vote for the duo — one of seven couples remaining in this year’s competition.
Following the meeting, Biles was a special guest at an event organized by the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility in the Kennedy Caucus Room. She talked to the attendees about alcohol responsibility and posed for pictures with the children of other members of Congress, staffers, reporters and Capitol staff.
