Ossoff Pops the Question and Gets Congratulations from Handel
Opponents in race for Price’s former House seat in Georgia
Georgia congressional candidate Jon Ossoff got engaged over the weekend and opponent Karen Handel sent out a news release offering congratulations.
Democrat Ossoff, 30, asked longtime girlfriend Alisha Kramer to marry him on Friday night, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported. Republican Handel and her husband sent out a statement on Saturday.
“Steve and I send our congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. Ossoff. We have learned a lot over nearly 25 years of marriage. Most days are beyond awesome but there are some tough times too.”

“Having a partner who is the love of your life ultimately makes the hard days better, and the journey more complete. Steve and I wish them the best in their future together.”
Ossoff’s relationship has been an awkward subject on the campaign trail.

In April, a CNN anchor asked Ossoff when he would marry Kramer and Ossoff responded, “That’s more of a personal question,” the Hill reported.
Kramer is a third year medical student at Emory University and when Ossoff was asked why he doesn’t live in the district he’s running for, he cited Kramer’s need to be close to her school, according to the AJC.
The couple went to Georgetown University together. Kramer, an Atlanta native, is studying to be an OB-GYN.
The runoff for the House seat, which became open when former Rep. Tom Price was nominated for secretary of Health and Human Services, is June 20.
