Former FBI Director James B. Comey has been invited to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee next Tuesday, a person familiar with the invitation confirmed.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether it would be an open or closed session.

Comey had been scheduled to testify in front of the committee on Thursday on worldwide threats, but acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe will now testify after Comey’s firing on Tuesday by President Donald Trump.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

Committee Chairman Sen. Richard Burr said earlier Wednesday that he did not expect Comey to testify at the Thursday hearing.

“The chair will be filled hopefully by the acting director of the FBI,” the North Carolina Republican said.
