President Donald Trump said Friday he thinks the latest version of the GOP tax plan will  “do very well” when the House and Senate vote on it “as early as next week” after reviewing it.

And on another congressional matter, Trump replied, “Yeah, I would certainly say he should,” when asked if Alabama GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore should concede his race to Democrat Doug Jones.

Trump described the compromise tax measure as “monumental,” and praised Republican lawmakers who have worked on it as “great people.”

“I think that we are going to be in a position to pass something as early as next week, which will be monumental,” Trump said on a frigid South Lawn as he left the White House for the FBI Academy in nearby northern Virginia.

“These are great people, and they want to see it done,” he said of GOP members. “And they want to see it done properly.”

On the Child Tax Credit, an issue on which Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is holding out his support for the bill over demands to enhance that program, Trump slammed Democrats rather than the senator he once referred to as “Lil’ Marco” on the presidential campaign trail.

“Just so you understand, the Democrats have done nothing in terms of children, in terms of Child Tax Credit. We’re putting in a tremendous Child Tax Credit, and it is increasing on a daily basis,” the president said, appearing to refer to ongoing negotiations with Rubio.
