Committee Greenlights Democratic Intelligence Memo
‘We want to make sure the White House does not redact our memo for political concerns,’ Schiff says
The House Intelligence Committee unanimously approved for release a memo compiled by ranking member Adam Schiff and his staff that rebuts one from the GOP side accusing senior law enforcement officials of missteps early in the Russia election meddling probe.
“We want to make sure the White House does not redact our memo for political concerns,” Schiff said. “We think this will be very useful information for the American people to see.”
President Donald Trump will have five days to decide whether to make the Democrats’ document public as he did the Republican memo that was compiled by Chairman Devin Nunes and his staff. Senior White House aides on Monday committed only to put the Democratic memo through the same national security and legal review the Republican document went through.
Schiff said he will ask the FBI and Justice Department to recommend redactions, which panel Democrats will compare to any called for by the White House.
