Man to Plead Guilty to Threatening Maxine Waters
Andrew Scott Lloyd faces 10 years in federal prison
A man charged with threatening to kill California Rep. Maxine Waters is expected to plead guilty next week.
Andrew Scott Lloyd is expected to plead guilty to one count of threatening a public official, according to the Daily Breeze.
Lloyd faces up 10 years in federal prison and is scheduled to enter his plea before U.S. District Court Judge Stephen V. Wilson.
Lloyd made the threatening phone call to Waters’ office after hearing her disparage President Donald Trump on talk radio.
“If you continue to make threats toward the president, you’re going to wind up dead, Maxine, ’cause we’ll kill you,” he said, according to investigators.
The threat led Waters’ staff to notify Capitol Police, which led to the FBI being notified.
In an affidavit, Lloyd admitted making the call but said he never planned to actually hurt Waters.
Lloyd previously pleaded not guilty to the charges. He lives in San Pedro with his grandmother.
Waters has been a vocal critic of Trump and has called for his impeachment.
