DCCC Adds 10 More Candidates to Red to Blue
Latest additions include winners of recent primaries
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added 10 more challengers Friday to its Red to Blue program for strong recruits.
The eighth round of additions brings the total number of challengers on Red to Blue to 53. Many of the new additions have only recently won primaries.
Candidates have to surpass goals for fundraising, grass-roots engagement, local support and campaign organization to be included on Red to Blue. As part of the program, they will receive organizational and fundraising support and guidance from the DCCC.
“Candidates have always been our greatest asset and there are now over 50 top-notch campaigns on this battle-tested program,” DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján said in a statement. “We will continue to empower these next generation leaders as we fight to take back the House.”

The DCCC released its first round of Red to Blue candidates last November and is continuing to announce additional names in more frequent batches this cycle.
The latest additions are:
Josh Harder (CA-10): Harder has likely snagged a spot on the general election ballot to take on GOP Rep. Jeff Denham. Race rating: Tilts Republican
Katie Hill (CA-25): Hill is going up against GOP Rep. Steve Knight after finishing second in this month’s top-two primary. Race rating: Tilts Republican.
Katie Porter (CA-45): Porter is challenging GOP Rep. Mimi Walters after finishing ahead of four other Democrats in the primary. Race rating: Leans Republican.
Mike Levin (CA-49): Levin finished in the second spot in the primary for this open-seat race. He’ll face Republican Diane Harkey. Race rating: Toss-up.
Cindy Axne (IA-03): Axne won last week’s primary to take on GOP Rep. David Young. Race rating: Likely Republican.
Scott Wallace (PA-01): Wallace won the Democratic nod in the 1st District last month. He’s challenging GOP Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick. Race rating: Tilts Republican.
Susan Wild (PA-07): Wild won her party’s nomination last month and next faces Republican Marty Nothstein. Race rating: Tilts Democratic.
Abigail Spanberger (VA-07): Spanberger easily won the Democratic nod on Tuesday to take on GOP Rep. Dave Brat. Race rating: Leans Republican.
Jennifer Wexton (VA-10): Wexton won a six-way primary Tuesday and will now face GOP Rep. Barbara Comstock. Race rating: Toss-up.
Dan Kohl (WI-06): Kohl is trying to take on GOP Rep. Glenn Grothman. He raised more money and ended with more cash on hand than the incumbent at the end of the first quarter. Race rating: Solid Republican.
