Republican House candidate and soap opera actor Antonio Sabato Jr. called California Rep. Maxine Waters a “hustler of hate” in response to her remarks about harassing members of President Donald Trump’s administration.

Sabato’s remarks came after Waters, a Democrat, told supporters on Saturday that if they saw members of the administration in public “you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

Sabato is running as a Republican in California’s 26th District against incumbent Rep. Julia Brownley in a district that Inside Politics with Nathan L. Gonzales rates Solid Democratic. His comments came in an interview with CNN Monday night.

“Promoting hate and division and actually attacking the administration or anybody who’s involved with this administration — that’s unheard of. She should be put behind bars and throw away the key.”

Sabato repeated his criticism of Waters on Twitter, saying the way “she represents Los Angeles is appalling” and the district has “already served a 27-year sentence of her craziness.”

Sabato spoke at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Prior to that starred on shows like “Melrose Place” and was a model for Calvin Klein underwear.

Waters comments came after Red Hen, a restaurant in Virginia, refused to serve White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Similarly, both Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and White House adviser Stephen Miller were heckled at two separate Mexican restaurants.

On Monday, Trump responded to Waters comments, calling her an “extraordinarily low IQ person” and said on Twitter “be careful what you wish for Max!”

Democratic leaders Sen. Charles E. Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosihave also criticized Waters’ remarks.
