The longtime Arizona senator, who died from brain cancer on Aug. 25, was borne into the Capitol by representatives from the different branches of the armed services before former colleagues, friends and family paid their respects.
McCain will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda on Friday before a motorcade will take him the the National Cathedral on Saturday, with the former Vietnam prisoner of war passing by the Vietnam Memorial on the way.
He will be buried on Sunday at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, from which he graduated in 1958.
