Sen. Johnny Isakson was hospitalized after falling and fracturing four ribs in his apartment in Washington, D.C., his office said in a statement.
The Georgia Republican was admitted to George Washington University Hospital on Tuesday night.
“He is in pain, but resting and doing well. Sen. Isakson looks forward to fully recovering and getting back to work for Georgians,” read the statement from spokeswoman Amanda Maddox.
Isakson, 74, revealed in 2015 that he was in the early stages of Parkinson’s disease. But that didn’t stop him from running and winning a third Senate term the following year.
He was absent for much of the start of 2017, recovering from two back surgeries. He remains an active presence on Capitol Hill, though moving more slowly than he used to, sometimes with the aid of a walker or wheelchair.
