Paul’s challenge echoes similar assertions from President Trump that press outlets know the identity of the whistleblower at the center of the House impeachment inquiry, despite no evidence that journalists have uncovered the individual’s identity. In his Tuesday floor speech, Schumer called the comments “appalling” and stressed the importance of laws protecting federal whistleblowers.
